WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FIND WATER/SEWAGE IN YOUR HOME

STEP 1. TURN OFF YOUR WATER

Turn water off to the home immediately; at the water main in the home.

STEP 2. IF STANDING OR FLOWING WATER, CONTACT MITIGATION & INSURANCE CARRIER

If there is standing water or if the water was visibly gushing/flowing; contact a mitigation company as quickly as possible. You should also contact your insurance CARRIER and begin the claims filing process.

STEP 3. CONTACT INSURANCE AGENT TO POTENTIALLY FILE CLAIM

If the affected area is visibly wet floor/walls/ceiling/area/ etc., and no gushing water, contact your insurance AGENT to discuss your options of whether or not you should file a claim. Sadly, not all water loss claims are covered so the more info you have, the better off you are.

STEP 4. CONTACT RESTORATION COMPANY

Once you speak with your agent and make an informed decision on filing a claim or not, you should contact a restoration company. Click here to contact us.

STEP 5. TAKE PICTURES & REMOVE BELONGINGS FROM WET AREA

Take photos of and then move furniture and other personal belongings in the home away from the water/wet area to minimize damage.

STEP 6. DOCUMENT DAMAGED AREA

Start documenting the damaged area and items in your home with photos and by writing things down. This information will be vital in helping you work with your insurance on your water loss.

Flooding and water leaking into your home can cause extensive damage along with health and safety risks if not dealt with immediately and properly. Allowing water to stand increases the chances of mold and permanent structural damage. Still, it’s important to know that not all water problems will result in a complete demolition and rebuild – sometimes we simply need to dry the affected area as quickly as possible. Our 10+ years experience in multiple aspects of the construction industry makes it easier for us to locate and resolve your problem quickly. We take every step we can to fix the problem while being as non-invasive as possible. However, if repairs are needed, we can handle that too. No matter the degree of damage, we will work with you to come up with a plan customized to your circumstances.
